Sunday, Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young got started off on the right foot when it comes to recruiting for the Class of 2025. The veteran Hokies coach and his staff were busy on Saturday when June 15 was the first day when the Class of 2026 could be contacted, but the biggest win came 24 hours later.

Young, who has been busy building a roster this spring for the 2024-25 season after a mass exodus in the transfer portal following this past season, got his first commitment in the Class of 2025 when in-state recruit Sin'Cere Jones committed to the Hokies.

Jones is a combo forward with a ton of athleticism and is one of the top wings in the Commonwealth according to PrepHoops and he revealed his decision to commit to Virginia Tech.

"I loved the staff and campus. I loved how I was treated and I felt like one of the players already. The plan that they had for me was great and I can see my game making a huge jump with the program."

Young can add up to four high school players in the Class of 2025 and getting a commitment from Jones is a good start. However, priority big man Christian Gurdak quickly becomes the main focus of recruiting in the class for Young and his staff. The Gonzaga College High School big visited Blacksburg a week ago and had a visit to Notre Dame scheduled from June 23-25 and will be announcing his decision sometime soon. He expects to make a decision in July or August.

Gurdak was a former teammate with recent Virginia Tech commit Ben Hammond and spent some time with him during his recent visit, but Jones's committing gets the Class of 2025 off to a good start for Young.
