Through the first 13 games of their ACC schedule, the 12th-ranked Virginia Tech women’s basketball team has dropped just two games, both on the road last month. After losing to Florida State, the Hokies dropped a game at Duke where they lost Georgia Amoore early in the second half when she took an accidental elbow to her head diving for a loose ball.
Since losing to the Blue Devils, Virginia Tech has won seven in a row and will host Duke Thursday night at Cassekk Coliseum in a game that the school announced on Tuesday is sold out.
Virginia Tech vs. Duke, How to Watch, Preview
This game will begin at 8 o’clock and be broadcast on the ACC Network and streamed on FuboTV.
Virginia Tech is coming in off a 74-63 victory over Boston College Sunday afternoon in a physical game that left star center Elizabeth Kitley with a bump on her forehead. She has been taking a physical beating this season and head coach Kenny Brooks made his feelings known after the game on how his two-time ACC Player of the Year is defended.
Against the Eagles, the Hokies got contributions from Matilda Ekh and Clara Strack continues to get better and better off the bench. Cayla King struggled shooting the ball, but hit a key 3-pointer late in the game. At home, it’s vital to get her going against Duke with Amoore and Kitley.
Duke comes into the game winners of their last three games with convincing wins over Pittsburgh and Wake Forest, then beating in-state rival North Carolina at home in overtime Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils are making a push to secure their spot in the NCAA Tournament and they will be looking to pick up a big win on their resume with a regular season sweep of the Hokies.
This has been a game that Virginia Tech and their fans have had circled on their calendar since their 63-46 loss on Jan. 18 in Durham. Expect the Hokies to get revenge for their earlier loss.
