According to the 247Sports Composite ranking system, Sears scored a 93 after an evaluation and was named a four-star recruit.

"Sears brings a versatility to the backcourt that will provide Hokie coach Megan Duffy options going into her second season at the helm. Sears is a competitor who could potentially play either guard spot in the ACC. As the league grows more and more competitive each season, Sears very well might slide off the ball long term to give them shot making ability from beyond the arc. In high school, Sears is tasked with doing a lot of everything to ensure her team emerges with the victory. She won't have to work that hard once she arrives in Blacksburg allowing her to be even more efficient as a result."

This season, Sears averaged 23.5 points a game, 8.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists a night while collecting her third consecutive conference and district Player of the Year awards in the process.

Wednesday, Virginia Tech was in the running for another elite and sought-after guard, Kamryn Kitchen who was originally in the Class of 2025, but reclassified into the Class of 2024 to be eligible for next season. She chose Virginia Wednesday over the Hokies and four other schools and will be on the court in the ACC next winter.
