When it comes to recruiting in the Class of 2025, Virginia Tech women's basketball coach Megan Duffy has already picked up one commitment. Four-star guard Katie Sears from North Carolina committed to Duffy and the Hokies on Memorial Day night.
Recruiting in that class is going to pick up with visits and commitments and one Class of 2025 recruit, Kaelyn Carroll, was just named a five-star prospect by ESPN. Her recruitment is going to pick up speed and she listed Virginia Tech as one of the schools where she'll consider visiting.
Five-star Kaelyn Carroll considering Virginia Tech in her recruitment
Carroll, who plays at Tabor Academy and is from Marion, Massachusetts, spoke to 247Sports and said that she's considering visits to North Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia Tech. According to 247Sports, Virginia Tech offered her a scholarship on Dec. 10, 2023, when Kenny Brooks was still the coach in Blacksburg, but she said that she's getting to know Duffy.
"I love the school, the campus is beautiful and I'm also getting to know Coach Duffy. I love the fans as well."
- Kaelyn Carroll to 247Sports
Carroll is a shooting guard in high school, however, she wants to enter college as a wing. It's not surprising to see Kentucky and Brooks still very much part of her recruiting and a visit to Lexington will likely include a visit with former Hokie Georgia Amoore.
"Kenny Brooks is a great coach. He went from Virginia Tech to there. I don't know much about Kentucky yet, but I do love him."
- Kaelyn Carroll
Carroll will announce which schools she will visit soon, but expect Duffy and the Hokies to make a strong oush for her should she decide to come to Blacksburg. There are going to be a lot of top programs in the mix.
