When it rains, it pours. And no, that is no pun on the weather that is on tap on Saturday afternoon when the Virginia Tech football team opens ACC play in Chestnut Hill, Mass., against Boston College.
Last Saturday night, the Hokies suffered two injuries on the offensive side, and both players, offensive lineman Justin Terry and wide receiver Ayden Greene, were listed as doubtful on the initial injury report on Wednesday night. Another one was added on Thursday night, and you can add another offensive lineman, Montavious Cunningham, to the list as questionable.

Here we go again. Another injury along the offensive line is the last thing that head coach James Franklin and offensive line coach Matt Moore need. Losing Cunningham for Saturday would have Virginia Tech facing the real possibility of starting two new offensive linemen. Let's not forget they lost Johnny Garrett in camp to a long-term injury.
If Terry is out, Oklahoma transfer Logan Howland would likely start after replacing him last week at Maryland. Terry, who came to Virginia Tech from Ohio State, had been playing well for the Hokies. However, if Cunningham can't go, then Virginia native Brody Meadows could get the start at right guard.
Meadows is someone who comes with experience from his tenure at Virginia Tech before this season. The 6-foot-7 lineman saw some playing time in 2023 and 2024 before an injury cost him the 2025 season. As for Howland, he too saw some action, but it was with the Sooners before he entered the portal and saw some action in early-season wins over VMI and Old Dominion before being pushed into a full-time role last week after Terry was rolled up on. Cunningham not appearing on the first report Wednesday and then showing up on Thursday means something happened on Wednesday, and now his status is in doubt at BC.
