Going into her second season at Virginia Tech, Megan Duffy is beginning to make her mark on the women's basketball program. She inherited a talented roster from Kenny Brooks when he left for Kentucky, as some key pieces stayed with Duffy.

Following a second-round WBIT loss to Texas Tech in late March, Duffy lost Matilda Ekh and Rose Micheaux to graduation, and a couple of players hit the transfer portal, including Utah transfer Lani White. Duffy added three players through the portal and brought in three talented freshmen, and so far in the early offseason workouts, Duffy is excited with the way things are going.

Duffy retained some key players from last season in Carys Baker, Carleigh Wenzel, and Kayl Petersen. Mackenzie Nelson, Samyha Suffren, and Leil Wells are also coming back. Through the portal, the Hokies have added Texas Tech transfer Kilah Freelon, Melannie Daley from Northwestern, and Sophie Swanson from Purdue.

Not to be overlooked is a very talented recruiting class that Duffy has put together with Kate Sears, Amani Jenkins, and Aniya Trent. Recently, those players moved in on campus in Blacksburg before practices began, which has impressed Duffy, who gave a very promising outlook for the 2025-26 campaign. Check out the quotes below.

Last season, Virginia Tech was a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament, and went the field was announced, they were left on the outside looking in. Ekh, White, and Micheaux are key losses, but it feels like with the players Duffy got retention from and the six additions, the 2025-26 season should be a very good and exciting season.

The ACC is going to be a gauntlet once again, but you can't help but be excited from the reports you're getting out of the practices and the additions that have been made. November can't get here quickly enough.
