When four-star Class of 2027 quarterback Peter Bourque de-committed from the University of Michigan in December following a coach change, several high-profile schools jumped into his recruitment. As expected, some of the top programs threw their names into the ring, and a decision is near.

Three schools have been standing out: Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Georgia. It was reported that Auburn and Ohio State had entered the mix for him, but it appears that when he makes his decision on May 14, it's going down to just a couple of schools.

Virginia Tech and Georgia are reportedly in a heated race for 4-star Class of 2027 QB Peter Bourque

According to Josh Newberg of Rivals, Steve Wiltfong, also of Rivals, reported that "Virginia Tech and Georgia are the programs that most sources are pointing to" when it comes to Bourque. It appears that Penn State is not as high on his list, but if you listen to Nittany Lions fans on X, because they are likely to lose him to potentially the Hokies and former coach James Franklin, they all of a sudden backed off his recruitment. You can't make this up.

Anyway, it was reported earlier this week that the finalists are going to visit with Bourque before his decision, which is five days away. The closer this gets to the decision day, the more Virginia Tech has been linked to the Massachusetts native. Franklin has been on a massive recruiting heater over the last couple of weeks, and after adding some players on the defensive side of the ball, and then adding two running backs, two wide receivers, and a tight end, adding a signal caller like Bourque would be a huge addition to the class.

Things are going to get interesting, but one thing is for sure: Franklin and quarterbacks coach Danny O'Brien are squarely in the mix. A recruiting battle with Kirby Smart and Georgia is never easy to win.
