Since he de-committed from Michigan in December following a coaching change, four-star Class of 2027 quarterback Peter Bourque has been one of the most sought-after signal callers in his class. The Massachusetts native has been recruited by some of the biggest schools in the country.
Bourque has taken his time with his second recruitment, and it appears that he's about to make his decision. According to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, Bourque is slated to make his commitment on May 14, with the decision coming down to Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Georgia. Nothing like a good recruiting battle between Virginia Tech and Penn State with James Franklin in the mix. Let's not overlook Kirby Smart and Georgia, however.
Virginia Tech Class of 2027 QB recruit Peter Bourque sets commitment date
This has been one of the more interesting recruitments over the last couple of months. The Tabor Academy star has taken multiple visits, including one to Blacksburgh after Franklin was hired. Quarterbacks coach Danny O'Brien, who followed Franklin to Virginia Tech from Penn State, had been recruiting while he was in State College before Bourque committed to Michigan.
Penn State and new coach Matt Campbell have been in on another Class of 2027 quarterback from Massachusetts, Will Wood from Xaverian Brothers High School, and getting a commitment from both would certainly be something.
Franklin and Virginia Tech have to feel good about where things stand with Bourque, but Penn State and Georgia are legit threats. Franklin has been on a bit of a recruiting heater on the offensive side of the ball recently, with two running backs and wide receivers committing, along with a tight end from Alabama.
Bourque's commitment is one that a lot of eyes will be on and is the first potential QB commitment to the class for Franklin in Blacksburg. Brian Dohn of 247Sports reported that all three schools are expected to meet with Bourque before he makes his final decision.
