Going into a must-win Commonwealth Cup battle with Virginia on Saturday night at Lane Stadium, there are some key injury questions facing Virginia Tech. As has been the case for the month of November, running back Bhayshul Tuten and quarterbacks Kyron Drones and Collin Schlee have been questionable with each game.

That was the case this week leading into the showdown with the Cavaliers with the winner becoming bowl-eligible and the loser having their season end. On Saturday morning, Pete Thamel of ESPN reported some key injury updates for Virginia Tech.

Bhayhsul Tuten is questionable against Virginia

Thamel reported Saturday that Pop Watson is expected to start at quarterback against Virginia for his first career start, however, he did say that UCLA transfer Collin Schlee looms as a game-time decision for the Hokies. It would be very surprising if Watson didn't start as Schlee is dealing with an injury from the end of the first quarter at Duke.

After reporting on Virginia Tech's quarterback situation, Thamel also reported that running back Bhayshul Tuten is considered questionable. Earlier in the week, Tuten spoke about playing injured this time in the season.

If Watson does end up playing, he got his feet wet last week on the road at Duke, and in the overall big picture, he played well, stepping up making throws, and running. He made some mistakes, which you would expect, but if he is going to lead the Hokies to a victory, he is going to need his offensive line to play better and his wide receivers and backs to make plays. In 2024, that is easier said than done, no matter who is under center for Brent Pry.
