After dropping their first two ACC games to Duke and Florida State, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team has rebounded with three straight wins, including knocking Georgia Tech from the ranks of the unbeaten last Thursday night. What made the win extra special was that they rallied in the fourth quarter before surviving in double overtime, where they did not allow a Yellow Jackets field goal.
Megan Duffy’s team returned to Blacksburg on Sunday afternoon and survived a scare from Wake Forest, 61-54, to collect their third straight victory. That game kicked off a three-game homestand for the Hokies who will host Virginia on Thursday night at Cassell Coliseum in the middle game.

The Cavaliers come into this game after nearly pulling off an upset of Duke last Sunday afternoon at home. Last season the Hokies and their in-state rival split their two meetings and Virginia Tech would like to keep their winning streak going.

During their winning streak, Virginia Tech has got what they need to have success, balanced scoring. Rose Micheaux earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Monday after her two monster efforts against Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. She has been really good on the inside for the Hokies this season, giving them a good post presence.
One big takeaway from the win over the Demon Deacons was that Virginia Tech survived a stretch without Carleigh Wenzel who was in foul trouble. They were able to keep the game close until she was able to get back in at the end and make some plays passing and at the foul line to keep Wake Forest at bay. This would be a nice win over the Hokies over a Cavaliers team that they will be battling with in the recruiting trial.
