So, you say there's a chance? In the end, that's all anyone can ever hope for. As far as the Virginia Tech football team goes, they just want a chance, and a chance is what they are going to get in 2025, according to Kelley Ford.

This season, the Hokies are facing a much harder schedule than they did in 2024. Way harder, and to compound matters, there have been a lot of players lost to the transfer portal and the NFL Draft. Let's not overlook the changes on Brent Pry's coaching staff as well.

What the end result will be on the last weekend in November as far as Virginia Tech's final record remains to be seen, but in this day and age of college football, it's sometimes like Big Brother, "expect the unexpected.'' You should know that by now.

Virginia Tech football's number of wins needed to reach the College Football Playoff

According to the great Kelley Ford, Virginia Tech's win projection to get into the 12-team College Football Playoff is 10, however, following the dotted lines, the Hokies are closer to needing 11 wins to get into the CFP than 10. Regardless, what a tall order this fall.

You can sit down and try and figure out how Virginia Tech pulls off 10 wins, and you'll get a headache, never mind trying to find 11 wins. There are some games where your confidence should be high that the Hokies will win (Wofford and Old Dominion), and there are a lot of games that are toss-ups that we could see go either way.

Last year was a huge letdown all across the board, but who knows, maybe, just maybe, going into a year with expectations not that high, that Virginia Tech can sneak up on some teams and be a factor in some way. Again, they say there's a chance, and that's all you want, is a chance. We can dream, can't we?
