Last winter, the Virginia Tech football team had a mass exodus out of Blacksburg through the Transfer Portal. One year after getting a ton of retention, the Hokies and former head coach Brent Pry saw several players exit.
Last spring was the last spring Transfer Portal before the NCAA did away with it this season, and having just one portal in early January. Last April, former three-star quarterback Davi Belfort hit the portal and headed back home to his home state of Florida to continue his career. He ended up landing at Central Florida in the portal and making the move from the ACC to the Big 12. After one year with the Knights, the dual-threat signal caller is hitting the portal once again.
Former Virginia Tech QB Davi Belfort is entering the Transfer Portal again
After one season with Central Florida, Belfort is again heading to the portal for a third school in as many years in 2026. He didn't take any snaps during his time at Virginia Tech. In 2025 with UCF, he played in six games, was 4-for-6 for 53 yards through the air with a touchdown pass in a 30-27 loss to Houston in November. He finished with 94 yards rushing on 16 carries during the season with a touchdown against West Virginia in a 45-13 win in October.

Belfort will have three years of eligibility remaining once he lands at his next school. At Virginia Tech, he was well down the depth chart behind Kyron Drones, Pop Watson, and UCLA transfer Collin Schlee in 2024. Even when Drones went down in November for the season, and Schlee was injured against Duke, Belfort still didn't see the field with Watson taking the reins against Virginia, and along with Schlee, they handled the duties in the Duke's Mayo Bowl against the University of Minnesota.
