After being selected in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, former Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten had a good first season in the NFL. Going into the 2026 season, Tuten was hoping to take the next step, and on Sunday, he certainly proved that he's ready to do that.

After rushing for 307 yards in 15 games as a rookie with five touchdowns, Tuten had just 79 receiving yards in 10 catches and a pair of touchdowns. Tuten has already surpassed most of those numbers, and a career afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts certainly helped.

Jacksonville was coming off a bye and looking to put a stranglehold on the AFC South against the Colts at home, and Tuten made sure that they did. He rushed for a career-high 104 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown, while also racking up 55 yards receiving on just two catches and a touchdown. He had catches of 30 and 25 yards. Not a bad afternoon in the Jaguars' 42-7 victory that improved them to 5-2.

The weather all over the state of Florida was terrible, with rain, thunder, and lightning. In Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons, 16-0, without completing a pass. Quarterback Baker Mayfield went 0-for-3 passing, and the Bucs still picked up a big win. Meanwhile, in South Florida, the New England Patriots beat the Miami Dolphins, 24-19, in a game that was mostly played in rain, which was heavy at times.

Meanwhile, early in the afternoon in Northern Florida, the Jaguars and Colts both knew that the rain was going to play a big part in the game, and Tuten didn't beat around the bush after the game about the weather and the game plan that they had for it.

“We knew it was going to rain,” Tuten said, per ESPN. “We knew we were going to run the ball, and we just went out and imposed our will.”

That they did. Jacksonville racked up 366 yards of total offense to just 243 for the Colts. The Jaguars had 183 yards rushing and still had 183 yards through the air despite the tough weather conditions. Jags signal caller Trevor Lawrence was 10-for-14 through the air for 210 yards and three touchdowns. However, one big key stat in the game was that the Colts turned the ball over three times, while the Jaguars did so only once.

This is a short week for Tuten and Jacksonville, who have a three-game lead in the AFC South over the Houston Texans after Sunday's results, as the Jaguars will visit the banged-up Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, who played three quarterbacks in their loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Jacksonville will miss Lamar Jackson, who was placed on injured reserve after the Buffalo loss with a finger injury. The following weekend, the Jags will have a tricky road game against the NFC East-leading New York Giants.
