It has been almost a year to the day that Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry picked up his first commitment in the Class of 2026 when four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone committed on June 30, 2024. It was a huge get for Pry.

Back in November, Falzone de-committed from Virginia Tech to re-open his recruiting in what ws a surprising move. After a couple of months, the Nazareth, Pa. signal caller committed to Penn State and James Franklin to play his college football in his home state. In the end, it wasn't surprising to see him end up there. Not for long, apparently.

Just when you think he has found his home for the next four or five years, think again. In a stunning move, Falzone has flipped his commitment from Penn State to head to the SEC and Auburn. In a span of 12 months, he has gone from the ACC, to the Big Ten to the SEC. What a ride.

A 6-foot-5 QB with a strong arm, Falzone had Syracuse, Utah, Iowa, and others, along with Virginia Tech and Penn State in his recruitment, but Auburn wasn't heavily involved until now. He is the 208th overall prospect according to On3 Sports in the Class of 2026 cycle.

Last season, as a junior at Nazareth, he completed 146 of his 278 attempts, throwing for 2,135 yards with 23 touchdowns and four picks. He also added 78 rushes for 697 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. This is a big pickup for Hugh Freeze and Auburn. Now the question is, can they keep him, as Virginia Tech and Penn State have found out, it's not as easy as you would think.
