For the second time in seven months, another former Hokies football recruit ends up at Penn State.

Prior to becoming the head football coach at Virginia Tech, Brent Pry spent time on James Franklin's staff at Penn State as the defensive coordinator. When he replaced Justin Fuente in Blacksburg, he knew that one way to build the Hokies program back up was through recruiting.

During his time at Virginia Tech, Pry has become good at recruiting talent in the state of Virginia, something he did when he was with Penn State, and working his way into the Northeast. Last June, the Hokies picked up a big commitment from four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone from Nazareth, Pa., in the Class of 2026.

In November, Falzone de-committed from Virginia Tech as their only commitment in the class at the time to reopen his recruiting. Despite de-committing from the Hokies, Virginia Tech stayed in touch with the signal caller, with former offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen visiting Falzone, per his X page, a couple of weeks before he bolted for Ohio State to become the offensive line coach for the Buckeyes. You never got the feeling that Tech was back in the mix for him, and on Saturday night, Falzone announced his new home, and he's not going too far from home.

Former Virginia Tech QB commit Peyton Falzone commits to Penn State

Falzone, to really no one's surprise, committed to Franklin and Penn State on Saturday night and the 6-foot-5, 208-pound recruit is the second former Virginia Tech commit to end up with the Nittany Lions.

Last September, Class of 2025 four-star wide receiver Matthew Outten flipped his commitment from the Hokies to Penn State. That was 48 hours after Virginia Tech's stunning season-opening overtime loss to Vandebilt in Nashville on Labor Day Weekend.

So far, Virginia Tech has just one commit in the Class of 2026 with wide receiver Carnell Warren commiting earlier this year. More are coming, but losing Falzone and losing him to Penn State must not be sitting well with Pry.
