Six days after moving on from Brent Pry as head football coach, Virginia Tech will take the field on Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium against Wofford in its final non-conference game of the season. Looking for their first win of 2025, it'll be interesting to see just how the Hokies respond.

First-year offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery will assume the interim coaching duties for the rest of the season, while also still calling plays. He'll move down from the press box to the sideline for the rest of the season. Expect the offense to open up big time against Wofford.

Virginia Tech will be without cornerback Dante Lovett, who entered the Transfer Portal on Monday after Pry was fired. Hokies' players have 30 days to redshirt (if they play in four or fewer games), and enter the portal after a coaching change. Just what will we see on Saturday? That remains to be seen against the Terriers, an FCS school, but here is a final prediction for the game.

Wofford vs. Virginia Tech: Final prediction

Virginia Tech 40, Wofford 13: Ok, so if there was a game on the schedule that Virginia Tech should win, it's this one. The Terriers are also 0-3 and expect a different-looking Hokies team ahead of ACC play opening next week at North Carolina State. Wofford has struggled in their first three games, and this should be a game where an inexperienced offensive line for the Hokies needs to get some confidence and play well. If the Terriers' defense can get through and cause problems for Kyron Drones and the running backs, then everything needs to be re-evaluated.
