After beginning the 2025-26 season with high expectations, things were looking good for the Virginia Tech men's basketball team when it came to the non-conference schedule. The Hokies went 11-2 heading into ACC play. However, after a thrilling triple overtime win over Virginia at home on New Year's Eve, things went downhill quickly.

The Hokies finished conference play at 8-10 and fell into the first round of the ACC Tournament. They were on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament, but fell off of it when they lost to Wake Forest in overtime. That ended their season at 19-13. A few days later, they announced that their season was over and they were not going to accept an NIT bid. That signaled changes were coming.

Those changes are beginning on Tuesday when the Transfer Portal opens and some Hokies are bolting Blacksburg. Here is a Virginia Tech men's basketball transfer portal tracker.

Confirmed Transfer Portal Entries

Neoklis Avdalas

After one season in Blacksburg, Neoklis Avdalas, one of the top recruits to commit to the Hokies program, is bolting in the portal. After getting off to a great start, things went south when conference play began, and he struggled. He should be highly sought after in the portal, and with the right system, he could thrive.

Christian Gurdak

Christian Gurdak, another freshman, played a lot of Mike Young this season when Tobi Lawal went down with an injury. He was going to get big-time minutes next season, but instead is hitting the portal. A big man with the ability to finish around the basket and a good free-throw shooter should generate a lot of interest.

Izaiah Pasha

After coming from Delaware last season through the portal, Izaiah Pasha didn't get as much time as he and Young would have hoped. He fell out of the rotation, and when he did play, he didn't contribute much. This wasn't surprising.

Jaden Schutt

After two years in Blacksburg, after coming to the Hokies from Duke in the portal, Jaden Schutt has one year of eligibility remaining and will find a new home. He's a streaky shooter who struggles on the defensive end. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
