On Oct. 28, the ACC was expected to release the start times and channel locations for the Week 10 schedule. As is the case often this time of year, all of the games scheduled for this weekend were placed into the dreaded six-day hold flex window.
That gave the conference the right to hold off on announcing the game times and channels for the games until late Saturday night, Oct. 26, when all the games were completed. After the completion of the late game last weekend, SMU at Duke, the ACC released the times and channels for this weekend’s game, and for the second time this season, Virginia Tech will not be on an ESPN broadcast.
Who are the announcers for Virginia Tech at Syracuse?
The ACC has slotted the Hokies and Orange into the noontime slot on Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome and the game will be broadcast on the CW Network. That means Thom Brennaman will handle the play-by-play duties and he’ll be joined by Max Browne as the analyst and Trevor Scales will handle the sideline reporting.
This will be the second game broadcast on the CW Network this season for Virginia Tech with their Week 2 home game against Marshall also being broadcast on the network. That was a Hokies win that included a Jaylin Lane punt return on the final play of the first quarter against the Thundering Hurd.
The CW Network that afternoon was an ok broadcast, better than the ESPN+ broadcast a week later at Old Dominion, but a broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or the ACC Network would be better than a CW Network broadcast. Surprisingly, the conference put this game on the network it’s on, but it’s the only way to watch one of these two teams emerge as a winner and bowl-eligible.
