Last season, the Virginia Tech women's soccer team went on a deep postseason run in the NCAA Tournament. The Hokies advanced to the Elite Eight and were one win over Duke away from advancing to the College Cup before the Blue Devils ended their season.
It was a remarkable season for the Hokies, who are looking to take the next step in 2025. Virginia Tech began the season ranked 14th in he country and opened the season last Thursday night with a 2-0 victory on the road at High Point on a pair of second-half goals from Taylor Price. Sunday night, the Hokies opened the home portion of their schedule this fall with an in-state battle against VCU and rolled to another win this summer.

Playing on Thompson Field for the first time in 2025, Virginia Tech struck for three goals in the first half and coasted from there for a 5-1 win over a Rams team that was replacing a ton of production from the 2024 season.
Natalie Mitchell opened the scoring for the Hokies in the 13th minute off a feed from Taylor Lewon, before Hannah Pachan scored her first of two goals in the 18th minute with a snipe from just outside of the box. In the 27th minute, she potted her second off a cross from Ellie Robertson when he headed the cross under the crossbar for a 3-0 lead.

VCU scored its lone goal after a timeout in the 29th minute, and the Hokies put the game away in the second half on goals from Eliana Salama and Samantha DeGuzman. Pachan picked up an assist on DeGuzman's goal to add to her two strikes.
At 2-0, Virginia Tech returns to Thompson Field on Thursday night to host Clemson at 8 o'clock before Georgetown visits next Sunday night for another non-conference match to close out the Hokies' three-game homestand.
