It's that time of year. The college football season is down to the National Championship Game on Monday night and then all eyes will turn to senior bowl games, the NFL combine, and eventually the NFL Draft in April in Green Bay.
Last season for Virginia Tech, it was a quiet draft as the Hokies had some players off of their 2023 roster that could have declared for the NFL Draft, but they chose to return to Blacksburg for another season. This spring, however, it will be different as there several former Hokies who will hear their name called for the NFL.
It is customary that when a player declares for the draft they announce it on social media, including their personal X page. This year has been a little different as some players who have used up all of their eligibility have still announced their intentions to declare for the draft. That included Virginia Tech wide receiver Stephen Gosnell, but he took to a funny way to do it.
Virginia Tech WR Stephen Gosnell has hilarious NFL Draft announcement
Friday, Gosnell declared for the NFL Draft, however, he put together the the best graphic of anyone to do it.
As you can see, Gosnell thanks head coach Brent Pry and wide receivers coach Fontel Mines, and everyone who helped him during his time at Virginia Tech, but his line was the best one yet. "Obviously my eligibility is up so I am automatically declared for the NFL draft.''
As good as this tweet was, the response from his brother, Benji Gosnell who is a tight end at Virginia Tech, was just as funny.
Where Stephen goes in the draft remains to be seen, if at all, but one thing is for sure, he was and always will be one of the most liked Hokies to come through Blacksburg on the gridiron.
