Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse: How to Watch, Odds & History
By Scott Roche
After a somewhat successful and quiet October, the Virginia Tech football team will begin the third of their 2024 schedule on Saturday afternoon at Syracuse. The Hokies only played three games in October, winning all three over Stanford, Boston College, and Georgia Tech.
At 5-3, the Hokies will head to New York to play the Orange, who is 5-2 and coming off a loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Panthers last Thursday night. It was an ugly loss for Syracuse and expect them to come out angry against Virginia Tech. Quarterback Kyle McCord, an Ohio State transfer, had a rough night against the Panthers, throwing three pick-6s in the first half alone which was a huge reason for a 31-0 deficit at the break.

Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse: History
The Dome has been a place of horrors for the Hokies. This will be the 21st game between the programs all-time and the Orange hold an 11-9 edge. Last season, the Hokies began their march to a berth in the Military Bowl with a 38-10 win over Syracuse on a Thursday night in Blacksburg. That game was coming off of a bye and now both teams are coming in off different results in the last week. If Virginia Tech is going to close the gap in the series history between the two teams, they’ll have to contain McCord and his receivers the best they can.
