On a three-game winning streak, the Virginia Tech football team is looking to extend it to four games and if they do it, they’ll do it on the road at a place where they have struggled. It’s no secret by now the horrors that the JMA Wireless Dome (which is what it’s called now) has been for the Hokies over the years against Syracuse.

This season’s matchup is going to be a difficult one for Brent Pry’s team as not only are they facing a team coming off a 41-13 blowout loss nine days ago at Pittsburgh, but there are health questions facing Virginia Tech with offensive lineman Xavier Chaplin and running back Bhayshul Tuten. Both players were injured in last Saturday’s 21-6 victory at home against Georgia Tech. Both players are probable according to Pry, but how effective they’ll be is the question.

Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse Final Odds

Virginia Tech opened as a favorite and the line has stayed steady throughout the week. At the time this article is being written, the Hokies remain a 4-point favorite according to DraftKings with an over/under of 53.5.

Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse Prediction

Syracuse can put up some points in a hurry with Ohio State transfer quarterback Kyle McCord and his bevy of offensive playmakers and this game might come down to whether or not the Hokies offense can put up points on the Orange defense. Syracuse is good against the run, but they have struggled at times against the pass. Regardless, Tuten’s health and how much he can play and contribute will be key.

This Virginia Tech team is different and hopefully has better results on this trip to New York, but we thought that same thing going to Vanderbilt this season for the opener and they lost in overtime. Vandy is not the same Vanderbilt as in the past and the Hokies performed well in Miami and should have won. After being blown out at Pitt and looking to turn things around, the Orange is the pick against the spread and the over is a solid pick as well.

Prediction: Syracuse 31, Virginia Tech 24
