After rolling to a pair of wins to begin the James Franklin era at Virginia Tech, the Hokies football team will face their first big test of the season on Saturday night when they travel to Maryland for a non-conference matchup with the Terrapins. It'll be the first matchup between the two former ACC foes since the New Era Pinstripe Bowl back on Dec. 29, 2021 at Yankee Stadium.

A lot has changed since that day. Brent Pry was in the stands after just being named head coach of Virginia Tech, replacing Justin Fuente. However, his tenure as head coach in Blacksburg last just four years as he was fired last September, which opened the door for James Franklin to be hired a couple of months later and after he was fired at Penn State.

Now, Pry is back at Virginia Tech as Franklin's defensive coordinator, and Franklin, who once was on Maryland's staff, will lead the Hokies into College Park. On Monday, Franklin and cornerback Jaquez White met with the media before the game to discuss the win over ODU last weekend and preview this weekend's game. White gave Maryland quarterback Malik Washington some bulletin board material ahead of the game, commenting on his arm.

As if Maryland, which also entered 2-0, needed any more motivation, they got it. Let's look at this week's matchup, including how to watch, odds, and more.
