The last time the Virginia Tech football team was on the field was two weeks ago at home against Louisville. The Hokies held a nine-point halftime lead only to fall apart in the second half and were shut out on their way to a 28-16 loss. The Hokeis enjoyed their second bye week last weekend and will begin a stretch over the next three weeks where they will close out the 2025 season. It begins on Saturday night at Florida State.

This will be a battle of two teams who are fighting for dear life to become bowl-eligible. Virginia Tech is 3-6 and a third straight bowl is unlikely, but you have to give interim coach Philip Montgomery credit for keeping the team together after Brent Pry was fired after a Week 3 loss at home to Old Dominion. FSU is 4-5, and this will be their last home game as they close out the season with road games at North Carolina State and Florida.

Virginia Tech vs. Florida State: Prediction

This is the last home game of the season for the Seminoles, and it's a big one. All four of their wins have been at home, and if they are going to become bowl-eligible, this is a must-win with a pair of road games left. It's also a big game in terms of Mike Norvell's future with the school, which said it will decide on him after the season is over. For Virginia Tech, it's simple: avoid digging yourself in a deep hole early, establish the run, and get off the field on third down. Easier said than done, as FSU quarterback Thomas Castellanos likely has had this game circled on his calendar for a long time after he struggled against Tech at Boston College.

Prediction: Florida State 34, Virginia Tech 16
