It’s hard to believe, but we are in the next to last game week for the Virginia Tech football team. After a bye last weekend, the Hokies will hit the road looking for a sixth win to become bowl-eligible at Duke. It will be a primetime kick-off and an interesting matchup, to say the least.

Duke enters the game 7-3, also off of their second bye, and the Hokies are a frustrating 5-5. It’s simple, the Blur Devils will be looking to improve their bowl while Virginia Tech is just looking to extend their season beyond next weekend’s battle with Virginia. There are a lot of questions surrounding Brent Pry’s team at the moment with injuries and who can play and who can’t will go a long way into the Hokies enjoying their ride back from Durham, N.C. or not.

Virginia Tech vs. Duke: History

Saturday night’s matchup will be the 31st between Virginia Tech and Duke with the Hokies holding a 19-11 advantage. The last meeting was in 2022 in Durham and the Blue Devils won, 24-7, after Virginia Tech grabbed an early 7-0 lead. To say that a 20th win in the series would be big for the Hokies going forward as it would not leave bowl eligibility down to the Commonwealth battle Thanksgiving Weekend.
