The Virginia Tech and Boston College football teams will begin the Week 8 schedule on Thursday night this week with each team coming off their first byes of the 2024 season. If there is one thing that we have seen in the past between the two teams is that Thursday night games between the programs can be a memorable night.

In terms of beginning the second half of the season on a good note, this is a rather big game for both teams. The Eagles come to Blacksburg 4-2 following a loss on Oct. 5 at Virginia while the Hokies are 3-3 coming off a dominating 31-7 win at Stanford that same day. Both teams a battling for a bowl bid following the regular season and the winner of this game, should they both become bowl-eligible, will have the upper hand to the better bowl game.

All-time, Virginia Tech is 21-11 against the Eagles following last season’s 48-22 victory up at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
