Virginia Tech Transfer Portal Exodus Continued With Three More Players Leaving
By Scott Roche
It’s going to be a busy and active transfer portal season for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry. He has many scholarship players who enter the transfer portal after having a quiet 2023 portal window. Factor in several players using up all of their eligibility, there are going to be a lot of needs for the Hokies in 2025.
After a very busy Monday with players entering the portal, the players going out the door in Blacksburg continued Tuesday with multiple players officially entering the portal. The players that entered the portal the second day it officially opened are not too surprising.
Xayvion Turner-Bradshaw
It’s easy to see why Xayvion Turner-Bradshaw entered the transfer portal as he fell far down the depth chart in a crowded wide receiver room. He made the transition from wide receiver to defensive back, but on offense is where he made his impact with the Hokies.
Last season against North Carolina State, he scored on a 47-yard run and it was an electric run where he quickly got out in the open field and showcased his speed to the end zone. Along with Turner-Bradshaw leaving, Ali Jennings, Da’Quan Felton, Jaylin Lane, and Stephen Gosnell are also leaving after using up their eligibility.
Jonathan Pennix
A young cornerback, Jonathan Pennix entered the portal Tuesday after recording two tackles this season, both on special teams. Like other players, he was not able to break through the loaded and talented defensive back group and will look for a new home in 2025.
Josh Gholston
Another defensive back Josh Gholston is entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining. He played in one game in two seasons at Virginia Tech.
