When Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young picked up a commitment last spring in the Transfer Portal from Delaware transfer Izaiah Pasha. He was coming off a big freshman season and was seen as someone who could help the Hokies this past season.
As is the case sometimes, the grass isn't always greener on the other side, as some think it is. Pasha found that out, making the jump from the CAA to the ACC. He was the CAA's Rookie of the Year after a stellar season with Delaware, but things didn't work out in Blacksburg. He hit the Transfer Portal again after the season, and now he's narrowed his choices down to three schools.
Virginia Tech men's basketball transfer Izaiah Pasha narrows list to three schools
Two years ago at Delaware, Pasha played in 34 games and averaged 29.8 minutes, 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists a game. He shot 51.7% from the field and 34% from behind the arc. At Virginia Tech, he quickly fell down the depth chart under head coach Mike Young.
In 18 games, Pasha averaged just over eight minutes a game, two points a game, and shot just 35% from the floor. He was stuck behind a group of guards headlined by Ben Hammond and Neoklis Avdalas. In the end, the fit was good for Pasha, and he hit the portal for a bigger role at another school next season.
According to The Portal Report, Pasha has narrowed his choices down to three schools: Duquesne, San Francisco, and the University of California San Diego (UCSD). He is reportedly on a visit to San Francisco and will visit the other two this week before making a decision.
When Pasha played, he was inconsistent and never really a good fit. It's sad to say, but you could say that about other players as well who are moving on. All three are good schools, but sometimes the grass isn't really greener on the other side in the Transfer Portal.
