July is turning into a big month in terms of recruiting for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry. There are a number of Class of 2026 targets who are making their decisions and so far the results for the Hokies have been mixed. On Saturday afternoon, a three-star offensive lineman, Adrian Hamilton, made his decision.
One area in the rising senior class that Virginia Tech has emphasized is along the offensive line under first-year coach Matt Moore. So far in the class, Moore has landed commitments from four-star Thomas Wilder, Buddy Wegdam, and Tyrell Simpson from North Carolina, who flipped his commitment from Rutgers to Virginia Tech. Now, the Hokies landed a big piece for the future in Hamilton.
Adrian Hamilton commits to Virginia Tech and OL coach Matt Moore
Hamilton, a 6-foot-2.5, 290-pound interior lineman from Washington, D.C., was one of the biggest sought-after players in this cycle and he committed to Virginia Tech. He had over two dozen offers when all was said and done, but he narrowed his choices down to the Hokies, Michigan State, and Virginia.
The St. John's College High School star is the 87th overall prospect according to 247Sports and the 67th-ranked interior offensive lineman and the fifth-ranked player in the D.C. area. Leading into this commitment, multiple Crystal Balls were logged for him to pick Moore and the Hokies.
Hamilton is a huge pickup for Moore and the Hokies, giving him four good players to work with in this cycle. Each of his final three programs hosted him in the last month with Michigan State (June 2) being up first, followed by Virginia (June 5), and finally Virginia Tech (June 20). Again, another visit was in Blacksburg, where Tech did its work to secure a commitment.
July has more commitments on tap for Virginia Tech, but considering how things have gone to date in recruiting for Pry and Virginia Tech, he's going on a much-needed commitment run recently.
