The wide receiver room at Virginia Tech is one that is going to go through a transition in 2025 after losing their top-four receivers this season. They picked up a commitment from Tennessee transfer Cameron Seldon out of the transfer portal and Friday night, Wake Forest transfer Donavon Greeneits.
On Saturday afternoon, the Hokies picked up a big commitment in the Class of 2025 during the fourth quarter of the Navy All-American Bowl at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.
Class of 2025 WR Cameron Sparks commits to Virginia Tech
Three-star athlete Cameron Sparks from Chattanooga, TN, picked Virginia Tech over Arkansas and Mississippi State. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Sparks will come to Blacksburg as a wide receiver. According to 247Sports, he's the 60th-ranked athlete in the Class of 2025 and the 22nd-ranked player in Tennessee. Their 247Sports Composite Ranking has him as the 18th-ranked athlete and 12th-ranked player in Tennessee.
On the NBC broadcast, Sparks mentioned Virginia Tech feels like family and that he feels comfortable in the Hokies system under offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen. Also according to the NBC broadcast, his route running and size stick out, something that the Hokies desperately need.
Speaking with 247Sports, Sparks mentioned not only Pry and Bowen, but also Fontel Mines, and that shouldn't surprise anyone. Mines has been one of Pry's vital recruiters over the last couple of cycles and Sparks is the latest to mention the highly popular coach. Sparks with classmate Micah Matthews can form a young formidable duo that could come in and make some news early. This is a huge pick-up for Virginia Tech for the future.
