The very first commitment Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry got in the Class of 2026 happened last June of 2024 when four-star Peyton Falzone from Nazareth, Pa. committed. Fast forward five months later and Falzone de-committed from the Hokies, reopening his recruitment. Two commitments later, at Penn State and Auburn, he has a new home in the SEC.
At the time this article is being written, the Hokies have nine commitments in the Class of 2026, with a lot of them on the defensive side of the ball. They have yet to get another quarterback to commit, although they do have Kelden Ryan and A.J. Brand in the Class of 2025 on campus now. Pry would love to get another QB to replace Falzone's commitment and it appears that the Hokies are looking to strike quickly.
Virginia Tech offers Class of 2026 QB Cole Bergeron
Lafayette, La., quarterback Cole Bergeron was in Blacksburg for a camp last month, and he impressed so much that offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery and offensive assistant coach Brian Crist offered him a scholarship. A three-star, Bergeron is also being recruited by Georgia Tech and Colorado and will make a return visit to Lane Stadium this fall for a game before he makes his decision.
"They really went out of their way to get to know me, work me out, and show me as much as they could in a short time,'' Bergeron told 247Sports.
Aside from Falzone, Virginia Tech lost a four-star wide receiver, Carnell Warren, who de-committed last month and you have to think with no signal callers in the class to date, Bergeron moves up the list of players who the staff could see making a priority. Also holding offers from Brent Key and Georgia Tech and Deion Sanders of Colorado, this will make for an intense recruiting over the next couple of months.
