When it comes to recruiting for the Class of 2027 for Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin, the Hokies have loaded up along the defensive line for first-year coach Sean Spencer. The former Texas A&M coach has four commits right now, but things are trending toward that changing soon.
The Hokies are in the mix for a handful of offensive players and some good ones. Michigan de-commit Peter Bourque is on Virginia Tech's radar, as are some running backs and offensive linemen. When it comes to wide receivers, there is one that Virginia Tech is in the mix for, and he has set a July 1 commitment date, Iveon Lewis. He recently dropped his Top 5 with the Hokies, one of them.

Virginia Tech makes Top 5 for four-star Class of 2026 wide receiver
Lewis, who hails from Richmond, is an elite play-making wide receiver and the 6-foot-2, 185-pound speedster's numbers back that up at Huguenot High School. Last fall, he had 42 catches for 1,046 yards and 12 touchdowns. In three years, he has 113 catches for 2,782 yards and 36 touchdowns. That type of production has not gone unnoticed by some of the top programs in the country.
Lewis has a slew of visits set up before his commitment in just over two months. He has a visit coming up to Shane Beamer and South Carolina on May 1. He is scheduled to visit Blacksburg on May 29. He has other visits set up to Maryland (June 11), Colorado (June 12), and Kentucky on June 19. Lewis also has Georgia in his Final 5.
Sooner or later, Virginia Tech will start to get commitments on the offensive side of the ball, and Lewis is one who could come and contribute sooner rather than later. This is a good test for Franklin and wide receivers coach Fontel Mines when it comes to keeping four-star players in the Commonwealth.
