This is a big weekend for the Virginia Tech football team in terms of hosting some key recruits as well as picking up a much-needed win on the field against Vanderbilt on Saturday night. We are still two months away from the Hokies' men's basketball team beginning the 2025-26 season, but this is a huge weekend for head coach Mike Young and his staff.

While the Commodores and Hokies will battle it out inside Lane Stadium, Young and his staff will be hosting a pair of big recruits this weekend. Five-star Baba Oladotun, who is the No. 8 Class of 2026 prospect according to 247Sports, will take a visit, as will four-star Harris Reynolds from Atlanta, Georgia.

Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young has massive recruiting weekend on tap

This is about as big a recruiting weekend for Young and his staff, including Chester Frazier, as they are going to have this fall. Oladotun, who reclassified from the Class of 2027 to 2026, is a forward with good ball-handling skills. He can take his defender off the dribble and finish strong at the basket. What Young and his staff should love about his all-around game is his ability to defend multiple positions.

As for Reynolds, he is quickly becoming a sought-after recruit in his class. He has visited ACC foe Clemson and reportedly has visits scheduled for Vanderbilt, South Florida, Saint Louis, VCU, and Texas A&M. If there is one takeaway from both players visiting, it's that they are extremely athletic and would fit nicely into Young's system.

Virginia Tech is losing some key players following the upcoming season, with Tobi Lawal and star freshman Neoklis Avdalas both likely headed to the NBA Draft next June. Young could use several positions in either recruiting or through the Transfer Portal, but to avoid finding it through the latter, a commitment from one or both players down the line would be huge for the Hokies.
