Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has been getting some commits this spring portal cycle on the defensive side of the ball, along the line, and in the secondary. Help is needed at linebacker after Jayden McDonald entered the portal.

One portal target that the Hokies were interested in was Purdue's Hudson Miller, who has two years of eligibility remaining, and he was supposed to visit Virginia Tech, but Tim Thomas of The Tech Lunch Pail reported that his visit last week was canceled by Tech. On Tuesday, he committed to Toledo in the MAC. It's back to the drawing board for Pry and the Hokies to fill the gap at linebacker.

Miami guard Divine Ugochukwu entered the transfer portal after one season in Miami with the Hurricanes and Virginia Tech reportedly has shown interest in the Texas native, among a number of schools that have reached out to him.

He averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 assists a game and one of his better games was at Virginia Tech in January when he had seven points and seven rebounds in what turned into an 86-85 Hokies win on a Mylyjael Poteat three-point play in the final seconds. Guards are a need for the Hokies this portal cycle.

Tobi Lawal early NBA Draft entry confirmed by the league

The NBA announced the 106 early NBA Draft entries for June's Draft, and as expected, Virginia Tech's Tobi Lawal was on the list. He previously announced that he putting his name into the NBA Draft, but keeping his college eligibility for his senior year should he withdraw.

Lawal said that if he does withdraw that he would play his final season in Blacksburg with the Hokies, and it would be surprising if he didn't return to Mike Young. If he does return to Virginia Tech, it would be a huge boost to the roster for 2025-26.
