One week before beginning the 2025 season, the Virginia Tech football team dropped a social media post on their X account, revealing the uniforms that they'll wear on Sunday afternoon at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium against 13th-ranked South Carolina.

The sweet combination is very close to what they wore against Boston College last October when they hosted the Eagles on a Thursday night at Lane Stadium. Now, they'll wear them again on Sunday afternoon. Fans were excited to see the color combo.

As far as the battle on the field goes, according to ESPN's SP+, the Hokies, who are currently 7.5 underdogs according to DraftKings, are losing by nine points to the Gamecocks. Analytics is taking over the sports world, and it may very well end up being correct, but if the Hokies go down, they'll go down looking sharp in their uniforms.

Soccer splits on the pitch

It was a split of results on Sunday on the pitch for the Hokies' men's and women's soccer teams in a non-conference doubleheader at Thompson Field. Three days after opening the season with a 1-0 upset of third-ranked Ohio State, Virginia Tech's men tallied a goal in each half and beat Canisius, 2-0, behind Alex Perez.

Perez opened the scoring in the 19th minute when he sniped a free kick from outside the box and bent it inside the near post. In the 51st minute, he had a nice touch pass inside the attacking 18 to Ugo Bertelli, who buried his shot to double the Hokies' lead. At 2-0, Tech will travel to Marshall for a match on Friday night before beginning ACC play a week later against Virginia.

As for the 14th-ranked Virginia Tech women, they suffered their first setback of the season after three straight wins to begin 2025 with a 2-1 loss to Georgetown. The Hoyas opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a goal from Maja Lardner before the Hokies tied the match in the 59th minute on an Eliana Salama goal.

Eight minutes later, Mary Cochran tallied the game-winner for Georgetown. Virginia Tech will look to get back on the winning side on Thursday night when they travel to Liberty for another non-conference match beginning at 6 o'clock.
