Over the last two days, both Virginia Tech men's and women's basketball coaches, Mike Young and Megan Duffy, and some of their players have taken the stage at the ACC Tip-Off in Charlotte. Tuesday, Young was joined by Tobi Lawal, Jailen Bedford, and Amani Hansberry.

Listening to Young and the players talk, the vibes certainly feel different this year with the season approaching in less than a month. The same could have been said about the Hokies football team, and we saw how that ended up.

According to David Cunningham of Tech Sideline, Young said that center Antonio Dorn will have to miss the season-opener against Charleston Southern due to NCAA rules. That means true freshman Christian Gurdak will likely see some time in Dorn's place.

Men's basketball gets limited ESPN/ESPN2 games

Despite the renewed excitement around the men's program this year, ESPN isn't interested in showcasing Neoklis Avdalas or anyone else. They released the men's schedules across the ESPN networks with times, and the Hokies only have two games definitely scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2.

Of course, those two matchups are against Duke on Jan. 31 at home at noon on ESPN, then a month later, at North Carolina on Feb. 28 on either ESPN or ESPN2 at 6:30 or 8:30 p.m. The rest of the conference games will either be on the C.W. Network or across lower ESPN channels.

Football recruit Andrew Rogers reclassify's again

Back in August, former football coach Brent Pry picked up a huge commitment from four-star edge Andew Rogers from Greensboro, N.C. He moved up from the Class of 2027 to 2026, but according to Rivals’ Adam Gorney, he is going back to the Class of 2027. He visited Tennessee last month and is scheduled to take a visit to Florida State this weekend when the Seminoles host Pittsburgh. He remains committed to Virginia Tech as of now, despite the coaching change.

Men's soccer blanks Longwood

The Hokies' men's soccer team returned to Thompson Field on Tuesday night and shut out Longwood, 3-0, in a non-conference match. Freshman Dagur Traustason scored all three Virginia Tech goals in the 13th, 26th, and 72nd minutes. At 4-2-4 and 0-2-2 in the ACC, the Hokies will host Louisville on Saturday at 5 p.m.
