Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young has put together what should be an exciting roster for the 2025-26 season compared to last season's 13-win campaign. Almost anything would be considered better than last season.
Young has added some key players through the transfer portal as well as some promising incoming freshmen. One of them is Neoklis Avdalas from Greece and he committed and signed with the Hokies after withdrawing from the NBA Draft process. Another player from overseas committed is Antonio Dorn from Germany and after a lengthy process, Dorn and Young finally got clearance of how many years of elgilibilty he has in college.
The NCAA granted Dorn, who is 22 years old, three years of eligibility and will have five years to play rather than the standard five years to play four. Regardless, Dorn should be a huge addition in the middle for Virginia Tech, along with Tobi Lawal, also returning from the NBA Draft process.
Virginia Tech baseball player turns down pros to honor commitment
The MLB Draft was Sunday and Monday in Atlanta, the site of the 2025 All-Star Game, and it took until late on Monday for the first member of the Hokies to hear their name called, and before the night was over, four were drafted. Also picked was an incoming freshman who had a decision to make: sign with the team that drafted him, or go to Blacksburg. He made his decision on Wednesday.
Aiden Robertson, a JUCO transfer for Virginia Tech coach John Szefc, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 13th round and 385th overall announced that he'll be playing for Virginia Tech rather than signing with the Rangers. The Tennessee native went 13-1 for Walters State Community College with a 4.12 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 18 appearances. This is a giant decision for Szefc and the Hokies for the pitching staff next spring. This was a stunning decision considering his college experience.
Virginia Tech Andrew Sentlinger reportedly to sign with White Sox
Andrew Sentlinger was picked in the 20th round, 586th overall, by the Chicago White Sox, and according to Mark Berman of the Roanoke Times, he will sign with the White Sox, which doesn't come as a surprise. During his time in college, he was 6-4 with a 5.13 ERA in 52.2 innings pitched with 60 strikeouts.
