Wednesday, the ACC announced that they will begin releasing the football schedules over three days with the full schedule with dates being announced on Monday night. That’s where we will begin this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News.

Virginia Tech football schedule to be released in full

The ACC announced that they will begin releasing the 2025 schedules for ACC teams with dates in three phases. Phase 1 was Thursday with Week 0 and 1 games released, but we already knew the Hokies were kicking off the season in Atlanta against South Carolina on Aug. 31. The time has yet to be announced, but with Miami hosting Notre Dame that night, expect a 3:30 kick time when it's officially announced.

Friday during ACC PM on the ACC Network, each conference team’s first ACC game will be released with the full schedule to be announced on Monday night (Jan. 27) during a two-hour show from 9-11 p.m. on the ACC Network.

Mike Young reveals what wakes him up at night

After a 71-64 loss at Georgia Tech on Wednesday night, Hokies’ men’s basketball coach Mike Young joined the Virginia Tech Sports Network and sounded like a frustrated coach. It was another game where offensive rebounds allowed and turnovers sunk Virginia Tech to their second straight conference loss and the veteran coach revealed what wakes him up at night.

“I wake up almost every night with that very thought, ‘What in the world?” said Young about his team's turnover issues throughout games. “We’re doing everything we can to kind of make it easier for them. We’re doing everything possible.”

Understanding his frustration and thinking is easy. Unforced turnovers throughout a game and questionable decision-making make it too easy on opposing teams. With all the injuries the Yellow Jackets had, that was a game that the Hokies should have won.

Wrestling travels to Duke

The Hokies wrestling team will head to Durham on Friday night for an ACC match against Duke 1 7 p.m., looking to bounce back from. dropping their conference opener two weeks ago at North Carolina.
