During Virginia Tech's 44-20 loss to Vanderbilt on the football field on Saturday night, it was a loss that was difficult to swallow on a number of levels. Never mind the way the Hokies were outplayed and outcoached in the second half against the Commodores, but some injuries are beginning to pile up for Brent Pry's team.

On Tuesday, Virginia Tech's fourth-year coach didn't have updates on offensive linemen Montavious Cunningham or Johnny Garrett. On Wednesday, following a Hokies practice, he had an update, and it didn't sound promising ahead of this Saturday night's game at home against Old Dominion.

According to Kolby Crawford of VTScoop, Pry isn't feeling better about either player's injuries, and that seven of the 10 two-deep offensive linemen are in treatments to varying degrees, according to Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline.

As if the Hokies needed any more obstacles ahead of a pivotal matchup with the Monarchs this weekend.

Saint Joseph's men's hoop coach bolts for the NBA

Last December, Mike Young took the Hokies to Philadelphia to play Saint Joseph's at the Palestra, and this year, the Hawks are returning the trip to Blacksburg. They will do so with a new coach after Billy Lange bolted for the NBA.

Lange left to take a role with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN. The school then announced that Steve Donahue was named the Hawks' next head coach. He previously coached at Penn and Boston College.

Women's soccer to host UNC

The Hokies' women's soccer team will open ACC play Thursday night at Thompson Field when they host 19th-ranked North Carolina at 7 p.m. Virginia Tech enters the game 4-2-2 after their non-conference schedule, and the Tar Heels are 6-2-0. In his career, Virginia Tech coach Chuggar Adair is 2-14-1 against UNC, and his team needs a victory.
