Through the first two weeks of the season, it has gone about as bad as it could have for the Virginia Tech football team and head coach Brent Pry. His seat is getting hotter by the game, and another performance this week like those might seal his fate.

After playing two SEC schools to begin the season, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, the Hokies have their final non-conference games before ACC play begins at the end of the month. They host Old Dominion this weekend in Blacksburg with another game under the lights at Lane Stadium. If last week was a must-win for Pry and his team, so is this week.

Old Dominion vs. Virginia Tech History

After losing his game against the Monarchs in 2022, Pry has won the last two meetings with ODU, one in Blacksburg and last year on the road. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series, 4-2, and there may be no bigger must-win for the Hokies than this weekend's tilt.

This was supposed to be a lengthy series between the two schools, but in late July, it was announced that there were changes to the series. They will keep the regular scheduled games at Virginia Tech this year, next year, and in 2030. They canceled the rest of the games in the series scheduled to be played at Old Dominion in 2027, 2029, and 2031. The game scheduled for Blacksburg in 2028 will also not happen.
