July tends to be a busy month in terms of commitments on the gridiron, but one three-star defensive lineman from Virginia has set his commitment date for August, and Virginia Tech has made the final list for the Hopewell native.

T-Ron Richardson, the 48th defensive lineman in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports and the 11th-ranked prospect in the Commonwealth, will make his commitment on Aug. 26, with his list of finalists being Virginia Tech, Penn State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Maryland, and Florida. So far, there has not been a Crystal Ball prediction logged for him.

College Football 26 rankings

College Football 26 is about to be a big hit, and recently, some things about the game have been leaked. And one thing that was released was the Top 100 players for the game, and Virginia Tech had one player ranked, 98th.

West Virginia transfer Tomas Rimac, a left guard along the offensive line, was the lone Virginia Tech player ranked in the Top 100. The offensive line outside of the video game is a work in progress this season for first-year coach Matt Moore, but having Rimac following him from West Virginia is a good start in rebuilding it.

Baseball has huge roster turnover

At 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday night, the college baseball transfer portal window officially closed, and when all is said and done, it was a portal of roster turnover for head coach John Szefc. At the time this article is being written, the Hokies have added seven players through the portal.

Committed to playing in Blacksburg next season are pitchers Brody Roe (Kansas State), Ben Weber (Xavier, Peyton Smith (Texas A&M), infielders Sam Grube (St. Mary's), Pete Daniel (Belmont), Owen Petrich (Saint Joseph's), and outfielder Sam Gates (George Washington). On Tuesday, Szefc added Chase Lummes to his coaching staff as director of pitching performance and baseball analytics.

Former coach finds new home

Speaking of Szefc and the Hokies' baseball program, Virginia Tech chose not to renew the contract of director of player development Kyle Sarazin. On Tuesday, it was announced that he was being hired as the assistant baseball coach at Charleston Southern for the 2025 season.
