We are nearly halfway through the 2026 college football season, and some coaching hot seats are getting hotter, and some are cooling off. This past weekend's results got the seats hotter for a couple of coaches that Hokies fans know very well: Mike Norvell at Florida State and Mike Locksley at Maryland.
After blowing out Virginia at home last weekend, the Seminoles traveled to Louisville this past weekend and grabbed an early lead, but were tied at halftime before the Cardinals blew the game open in the second half to run away with an ACC win. Norvell's hot seat, according to Pete Nakos of On3, got hotter.
As for Locksley and the Terrapins, they have recovered from their loss to the Hokies in Week 3, and Maryland fans are calling for his job, and they might get their wish eventually after a loss this past weekend at Ohio State.

Watson missed the game with an ankle injury, and according to the Boston Globe, his foot was in a walking boot. UMass went on to lose 20-19 to Miami of Ohio and fell to 4-2 on the season.
