When Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young spoke following the Hokies' elimination in the first round of the ACC Tournament in March, the veteran coach said he was working hard on his roster for the 2025-26 season. Some retention from some key players has helped despite some portal losses, but Young has dipped into the international pool of players.
Last month, Virginia Tech got a commitment from German center Antonio Dorn to fill the gap in the middle left by Mylyjael Poteat and possibly Tobi Lawal. He might not be the only international player that could find his way to Blacksburg. The Hokies will host 6-foot-8 wing Neoklis Audalas from Greece in what is his only know visit according to 247Sports. He will make a stop with Tech before heading to the NBA Combine from May 11-18.
The 19-year-old will get a true reading where he stands when it comes to the NBA, but a year of college might be beneficial to him. If Virginia Tech and Young get lucky, the one season could by in Blacksburg, giving the Hokies a player who would come in and get a lot of time in the rotation.
Virginia Tech offers in-state Class of 2026 OL
Virginia Tech extended an offer to Woodberry Forest's Buddy Wegdam and is expected to get a visit from the Class of 2026 recruit. First-year offensive live coach Matt Moore visited Wegdam at school and offered him.
This is going to turn into an ACC battle for Wehdam as North Carolina State is also in the mix and will likely get a visit from him. Virginia Tech has incoming freshman defensive back Sheldon Robinson signed, and hopefully, that's the start of a pipeline from Woodberry Forest to Blacksburg.
Baseball to host Mercer
After getting swept by Pittsburgh last weekend, the Hokies baseball team traveled to Liberty for a second matchup with the Flames in a week. Virginia Tech fell behind 7-0 early and ended up losing, 7-4, to remain in their late-season swoon.
Virginia Tech will not have an ACC series this weekend, instead will host Mercer for a pair of non-conference games on Saturday and Sunday. With the NCAA Tournament chances all but gone, the Hokies will host Marshall next week before Virginia visits on the final weekend of the regular season before the ACC Tournament begins.
