After going on a recruiting heater to close out the month of April, things were a little quiet in May. However, James Franklin was on a heater on the offensive side of the ball in the Class of 2027.

During the additions in late April on the offensive side of the ball, the Hokies got commitments from a pair of three-star running backs. That went along with a tight end and two wide receivers. New running backs coach Norval McKenzie has been hitting the recruiting trail and has zeroed in on another running back, this one from Texas, Javion Jones-Priest. On Saturday, the Hokies picked up a Crystal Ball prediction for Jones-Priest.

Virginia Tech has made Jones-Priest a priority this cycle, and he is expected to make a decision this week. Evan Watkins of VTScoop logged a Crystal Ball prediction to land Jones-Priest when he makes his commitment.

The 5-foot-10 Texas native rushed for 1,154 yards on 144 carries this past season and 12 rushing touchdowns for Arlington Martin High School. There are some other schools in play for Jones-Priest, but the three-star is predicted to go to Virginia Tech. His father, Rafael Priest, played cornerback at TCU.

Last month, Virginia Tech picked up commitments from Kelvin Morrison from North Carolina, and then Georgia native Stanley Smart committed to the Hokies. Jones-Priest committing to the Hokies would add another talented running back to a room that McKenzie and Franklin are building a room for offensive coordinator Ty Howle.

Virginia Tech currently has 12 players committed in the Class of 2027 after Massachusetts four-star quarterback Peter Bourque committed to the Hokies on Thursday. Franklin isn't close to being done adding to the class, and if he can add Jones-Priest, the class ranking will continue to soar.
