During their bye week, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his assistants hit the road recruiting. It was a much-needed bye week for Pry's players and staff after six up-and-down weeks and a 3-3 start to the 2024 season.

As Pry and his staff were on the road and came across running back Brendon Haygood while in Texas. During their trip to the South, Pry left with an offer for Haygood and it's clear that Virginia Tech is trying to get the Class of 2025 running back to flip his commitment he made last month.

On Sept. 22, Haygood, a running back from Sachse, Texas, committed to Boise State and just under a month after his commitment, the Hokies are swooping in hoping to get a flip. Currently in the Class of 2025, Virginia Tech has a commitment from running back Jeffrey Overton of Quantico, Va.

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Haygood and three-star according to 247Sports, was in Blacksburg for the Hokies' 42-21 victory over Boston College Thursday night, and what a night to be in Lane Stadium for a running back recruit. He witnessed, in person, Bhayshul Tuten set the Virginia Tech all-time single-game rushing record with 266 yards and three touchdowns on the ground and one through the air.

Recruiting in the Class of 2025 has been going well for Pry despite the de-commitment from athlete Matthew Outten on Labor Day Weekend and his new commitment to Penn State. Overton is a highly-recruited running back and now the Hokies are looking to get a flip from Haygood from Boise State.

Haygood does have visits coming up to Houston on Oct. 26 and Texas Tech on Nov. 9, so Virginia Tech is not the only school in the mix for a flip from the Broncos.
