Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin and his staff are hard at work recruiting with the Class of 2027. Currently, the Hokies have four commitments in the class, and they are all along the defensive line for new coach Sean Spencer and new defensive coordinator Brent Pry.
The Hokies' spring game is Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium, the first for Franklin since he was hired back in November in Blacksburg after he was fired at Penn State. There are several priority recruits set to be on campus over the next couple of days and for the spring game. There is one recruit whom the staff has zeroed in on who is set to make his decision on Thursday afternoon, and there is a good chance that Virginia Tech is emerging as the leader for his commitment.
Virginia Tech is in the mix for a Class of 2027 defensive lineman who is set to make his commitment on Thursday
While there are no Crystal Ball predictions logged for Joseph Buchanan yet, Virginia Tech is in the mix and very much in play to get a commitment. The 6-foot-3.5 lineman from Owings Mills, Maryland, is a rising senior who stars for the McDonogh School.
His recruitment has been one where he has taken his time as he is looking for the school that will play him and sees him as a player who gets slotted in where he would like. The three-star is being heavily recruited by Tennessee and North Carolina State as well. He does have a visit scheduled for the end of May to Virginia Tech.
As mentioned above, the Hokies are stockpiling along the defensive line in the trenches so far in the Class of 2027, and Franklin, Spencer, and Pry are hoping that another one is added on Thursday afternoon with Buchanan.
