Over the past couple of seasons, one area that has been a struggle at times for the Virginia Tech football team was their offensive line. Whether it was opening up holes for the running backs or blocking for the quarterbacks, you name it, it's been an issue.
Following last season, head coach Brent Pry moved on from three assistant coaches, and one of them was offensive line coach Ron Crook. A couple of weeks after firing Crook, Pry hired former West Virginia offensive line coach Matt Moore to rebuild the OL.
Moore has his work cutout for him and he knew it before taking the job with players from the 2024 squad who exhausted all of their eligibility or players entering the transfer portal, Moore must basically start over. He did have one player returning in Bob Schick from last year's team, but he won't be around when camp starts this summer for the 2025 season.
Virginia Tech OL Bob Schick enters the transfer portal
If there was someone who was considered reliable along the offensive line, and that term is used loosely, it was Schick. Over the last two seasons, he played in 23 games and allowed only one sack.
Virginia Tech OG/OT Bob Schick is entering the transfer portal, his agents @monnier_oscar and @EugeneTLee of @3strandsports tell @mzenitz and I for @247Sports.

The Utah native, who transferred to Virginia Tech from Snow College before the 2021 season, made his Hokies debut in the Pinstripe Bowl in 2021 before really coming on and being a big part of the line the last two seasons. His departure now means all five starters from last fall's line are now gone from the program for one reason or another.
Moore's job was tough enough to begin with, but with Schick now gone into the portal, Moore is really going to have to work some magic ahead of the season-opener on Aug. 30 against South Carolina in Atlanta.
