This is turning into a busy week for the Virginia Tech football team in terms of transfer portal players visiting Blacksburg. Last week, we highlighted some transfers who were scheduled to be on campus this week, and on Monday, it was reported that a former SEC and Big Ten defensive lineman in the portal will be in town later this week.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Kentucky defensive lineman Darrion Henry-Young will be visiting Virginia Tech on Wednesday and Thursday. Before playing at Kentucky, he was at Ohio State and was a Top 150 recruit. This past season for the Wildcats, he had 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Defensive line is a big need this spring portal cycle for the Hokies, and Henry-Young is a veteran who would step right in and contribute next season. New defensive coordinator Sam Siefkes could use an experienced player like Henry-Young.

Virginia Tech offers Big 12 wide receiver Keelan Marion

Looking for wide receiver depth and players who could come in and play right away, the Hokies offered a Big 12 wide receiver, Keelan Marion from BYU, who posted on his X account. This past season for the Cougars, he had 24 catches for 346 yards, averaging 14.4 yards a catch, and he had one touchdown.

His best season was in 2021 at UConn when he caught 28 balls for 474 yards and five touchdowns, He also returned 10 punts for 124 yards for the Huskies. Virginia Tech can never have enough punt returners.

This week's NFL Draft is expected to see a couple of former Virginia Tech wide receivers have their name called in Green Bay and it's an inexperienced wide receiver room this fall for the Hokies, which should make Marion a priority and Fontel Mines needs to get a commitment.
