As we go deeper into the spring transfer portal window, more and more Virginia Tech players are beginning to enter to find a new home for the fall. That means that head coach Brent Pry and his staff have some work to do themselves in the portal to add for the upcoming season.

As we enter the third full week of April and the Hokies 2025 spring practices are over with, the coaching staff is busy off the field with recruiting trips and hosting recruits in the portal. There are three portal players who are going to visit Blacksburg and some key players who could step in and make an impact and add depth for the 2025 season. Here are three key visitors getting ready to come visit Tech.

Tulane LB to visit on Monday

The Hokies have some talented linebackers returning for 2025, but you can never have too many players at the second level. Tulane linebacker Jesus Machado, who has played very good for the talented Green Wave, is in the portal and taking a visit to Virginia Tech on Monday. According to Pete Nakos of On3, he will also visit Houston on Tuesday.

He missed the 2024 season coming off a torn ACL in the Military Bowl in December of 2023 against the Hokies. Before that injury, he was Tulane's leading tackler and was a second-team All-ACC performer. On Thursday, the Hokies lost Jaden McDonald to the portal, and Machado would be a huge addition for new defensive coordinator Sam Siefkes.

Maryland OL set to visit Virginia Tech

One position that has struggled for the Hokies has been the offensive line. Ron Crook was fired back in December, and West Virginia's Matt Moore was hired to turn things around in the trenches. There is not a lot of experience coming back, which makes an upcoming visit from a Maryland transfer a key one.

Terez Davis is becoming a sought-after offensive lineman in the portal, and he is scheduled to visit Blacksburg. The 6-foot-4, 289-pound Maryland native played 292 snaps for the Terrapins last season as a true freshman at left tackle. He is coming an visit Ole Miss, but this would be a huge addition for Moore and the Hokies if they could land Davis.

Penn State OL also visiting Virginia Tech

Another Big Ten offensive lineman is scheduled to be in Blacksburg, and like Davis, he has plenty of suitors for his services. Penn State's JB Nelson is expected to visit Virginia Tech among some of the schools after him, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

While with the Nittany Lions, Nelson played in 31 games, started eight and can play any position along the line which makes him interchangable. That would be big for Moore to get him and move him and fill needs at any time.
