When the weekend began with the Spring Game for the Virginia Tech football team and a slew of visitors who stepped on campus for a visit, head coach Brent Pry had one commitment in the Class of 2026. That happened back in February when wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina committed.

On Sunday, Pry picked up his second commitment in the class when Will Love, younger brother of current Hokie John, committed as a kicker. On Monday, Virginia Tech struck it big with another in-state commitment, the first for the Class of 2026.

Class of 2026 linebacker Joshua Pittman commits to Virginia Tech

Pry picked up his first commitment in the Class of 2026 on the defensive side of the ball when linebacker Joshua Pittman from Suffolk, Va., committed. Pittman chose the Hokies over Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Michigan State, Indiana, and others. He recently took visits to Wake Forest and North Carolina.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Pittman has an official visit schedule in May. Right now, he projects as an inside or outside linebacker for the Hokies, but he is someone who gets after the quarterback and is good against the run.

This is a good start for Pry and the Hokies in Class of 2026 with a talented wide receiver, kicker and linebacker on board. The next couple of months are going to be big in terms of visits leading into the summer with recruits on campus. As we go deeper into the spring, there should be more commitments on the horizon.

There are some priority recruits set to visit in May and June when the recruiting heats up and more players are expected to be closer to making a decision on their future. There is still plenty of work to be done, but this is a good start for the Hokies.
